At Leidos, we solve some of the nation's toughest challenges through innovation, collaboration, and mission focused execution. We are seeking an experienced Senior Material Planner to join our Leidos Digital Contracts & Supply Chain organization supporting critical defense and government programs.

In this role, you'll serve as a trusted business partner to Program Management, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, and Operations, ensuring material strategies align with program execution, customer commitments, and business objectives. You'll have ownership of complex material planning activities from proposal through program execution while driving supply chain performance, mitigating risk, and improving operational efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead material planning activities supporting multiple complex programs throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Develop and execute material acquisition strategies that align with program schedules, customer requirements, and funding profiles.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Logistics to identify material requirements and ensure on-time program execution.
  • Analyze demand, inventory, lead times, and supplier performance to proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Monitor material status from planning through receipt, resolving shortages and schedule impacts before they affect program performance.
  • Coordinate forecasting, prioritization, and expediting activities with Strategic Sourcing and commodity management teams.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate purchases, leverage strategic supplier relationships, and improve acquisition efficiency.
  • Develop metrics, reports, and dashboards to communicate material status, schedule health, and key performance indicators to program and leadership teams.
  • Provide guidance to program teams regarding material management processes, purchasing strategies, and supply chain best practices.
  • Drive continuous process improvements that enhance material availability, reduce cycle times, and improve operational performance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government contracts.
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFARS and government procurement practices.
  • Experience with Costpoint, SLATE, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence/reporting tools.
  • Understanding of supplier management, procurement planning, and inventory optimization techniques.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent supply chain certification.
  • Experience supporting proposal efforts, material estimating, or supply chain risk assessments.
