Overview
The Offsite Maintenance and Modernization (M&M) Office is hiring Manufacturing Technician - Material Controllers. This position will be located in Philadelphia, PA and will be responsible for supporting new construction of VCS and CLB products. The successful candidate for this position will be able to perform Material Control and Support functions in support of NEWCON work that is assigned to our prime strategic partner (SteelFab) at our Steel Fab facility in Florence, SC. The ideal candidate will cultivate and promote a positive TEAM environment and drive innovation and continuous improvement. The selected candidate will be responsible for communicating with all levels of customer and EB management. The position requires interfacing with Quonset Point, Groton, Off-Site Management and government personnel. Key Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
Receive, identify, locate, and retrieve materials
- Must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate
- May be required to physically lift items, up to 40 pounds.
- Must be prepared to travel and work overtime as required
- May be required to travel to different EB sites or Shipyards and must be prepared to work any shift that may be required
- Contribute to site improvement goals in Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Continuous Improvement.
- Must have knowledge of safe work practices; ability to comprehend and follow or issue verbal and /or written instructions; willing to work as necessary to support production needs
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors
- Responsible for material segregation, creating shipping documents and communicating to downstream consumers on expected ship dates
- Collaborate with site leadership to ensure readiness for inspections and audits

Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or GED
- 1+ years of warehousing and/or material handling experience
- Business and EWA travel to other shipyards/strategic partner locations is required
- Required to work other than normal duty hours, to include shift work, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
Preferred:
- Experience with material ordering and inventory control computer systems. Ie. MRP, EWP
- An understanding of material documents, including receipts, shipping documents, etc
- Oracle Training
- Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
- Proficiency in Cornerstone, PQS
- Proficient in MRP
- Military service
Skills
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask within a constantly changing environment
- Strong coordination skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong communicator with the ability to balance priorities
- Experience with MDDs, SDDs and DI's
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of EB and government management/oversight
- Computer skills in MS Word, MS Project, Excel & Power Point
- The candidate must possess strong analytical, causal analysis, communication, organizational, planning, and writing skills under minimal supervision
- The successful candidate will be expected to know, comply with and participate in site improvement goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Continuous Improvement
- Proficient in MS Suite (Excel, Project, VISIO)
