About the team

The Oracle Appliance Infrastructure team supports mission-critical Oracle engineered systems used across FIS technology environments. The team owns lifecycle operations for Oracle Exadata, Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance, Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance, Oracle Database Appliance, Oracle Linux, storage, backup, recovery, monitoring, and platform reliability for highly available financial services workloads.

What you will be doing

As a System Administrator Lead for Oracle Appliances, you will manage the operating system and infrastructure layer for Oracle engineered platforms including Exadata, ZDLRA, ZFS, and ODA.

You will lead day-to-day platform administration, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, automation, and production support while partnering with database, storage, network, security, and Oracle Support teams to keep critical systems stable, secure, and recoverable.

  • Lead OS-level administration for Oracle engineered systems including Exadata database servers, ZDLRA, ZFS Storage Appliance, and Oracle Database Appliance environments.

  • Plan and execute Linux/Unix patching, firmware maintenance, kernel/package updates, security remediation, certificate renewals, and platform hardening activities.

  • Support appliance lifecycle activities including deployment, upgrades, health checks, capacity planning, migrations, decommissioning, and hardware refresh coordination.

  • Troubleshoot production issues across operating system, storage, networking, monitoring, backup/recovery, and Oracle platform layers in a 24x7 enterprise environment.

  • Partner with DBA, infrastructure, network, security, data center, and vendor support teams to resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis, and reduce operational risk.

  • Create and maintain operational runbooks, implementation plans, automation scripts, standards, and knowledge documentation for repeatable appliance operations.

What you bring

  • Strong hands-on experience administering Oracle Linux, RHEL, or Unix/Linux platforms in large-scale production environments.

  • Experience supporting Oracle engineered systems such as Exadata, ZDLRA, ZFS Storage Appliance, or Oracle Database Appliance.

  • Ability to perform OS patching, firmware updates, package management, system monitoring, troubleshooting, capacity review, and performance analysis.

  • Working knowledge of storage, networking, NFS, VLANs, bonding, DNS, SSH, certificates, backup/recovery flows, and enterprise security controls.

  • Proven ability to lead production incidents, coordinate with multiple technical teams, communicate clearly, and document operational procedures.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.

Bonus if you have

  • Experience with RAC, ASM, Grid Infrastructure, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, GoldenGate, Oracle Key Vault, or Transparent Data Encryption.

  • Automation experience using Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, or CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud@Customer, Oracle Database@Azure, OCI, or hybrid cloud engineered-system operations.

  • Oracle, Linux, cloud, storage, or automation certifications.
