USA-NPN Engagement Coordinator (Extended Temporary)

The USA National Phenology Network (USA-NPN), a national-scale program based in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of Arizona, is seeking an Engagement Coordinator (Community Outreach Professional III) to support engagement in phenological data collection and analysis. The candidate's primary roles will be to interface with new and existing participants in the USA-NPN's Nature's Notebook platform; K-12 and undergraduate educators desiring to incorporate phenological data collection and analysis into their coursework; and end users of phenological data contributed by volunteer observers. Nature's Notebook is a plant and animal observation program that engages professional and volunteer observes across the U.S. in documenting the timing of plant and animal life cycle stages (phenology). Hundreds of Local Phenology Programs (LPPs) across the country use the program to collect phenology data to answer locally relevant questions about the timing of plant and animal seasonal activity.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment. If you are selected for this position and are employed to work remotely from outside of Arizona, your overtime exemption status will depend on the laws of the state where you perform your work. For employees working outside of Arizona, you may be hired as an hourly employee in accordance with state laws. A comparable hourly rate range
would be: $25.49-$31.87. These changes would not affect the position duties as outlined.

• Coordinate
  efforts to create and encourage adoption of resources for K-12 and
  undergraduate educators to integrate phenological data collection and/or
  analysis into their classroom activities.
• Co-lead efforts
  to recruit, engage, and retain participants in Nature's Notebook (duty shared
  with USA-NPN Partnerships & Projects Manager).
• Co-lead efforts
  to recruit new Local Phenology Programs and support existing Programs (duty
  shared with USA-NPN Partnerships & Projects Manager).
• Support Efforts
  to improve access and understanding of USA-NPN phenology data resources, tools,
  and materials.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience

• Experience collecting phenological observations using Nature's Notebook.
• Experience with community science programs, including outreach and engagement strategies.
• Experience with science communication.
• Experience with program planning and evaluation.
• Experience managing content for websites and regular publications, including Drupal, Canva, and Constant Contact for audience contact and newsletters.
• Experience developing mobile data collection applications.
• Experience handling data and carrying out analyses in R.
• Experience and high level of comfort with remote work, including leading virtual meetings and/or conferences.

The Rate of Pay Field represents the University of Arizona's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The University considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal equity.

grade range for this position is $53,039 - $79,558. Each unit typically sets starting
pay between the minimum and midpoint upon hire as reflected in the Rate of Pay
field above.
