Job Title: Shipping/Receiving Handler


Classification: Hourly non-exempt


Reports To: Director of Operations


Department: Plant Shipping/Handling



Summary of Job


The Shipping/Receiving Material Handler is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials and products within the warehouse facility. This position ensures inventory accuracy, timely order fulfillment, and adherence to company safety and quality standards.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Ensure safe handling and movement of all products. All material handling should be performed with the focus on SAFE as well as secure handling of the product in order to avoid damage.
  • Monitor and communicate accurate inventory control within the warehouse.
  • Load/Unload incoming and outgoing trucks.
  • Demonstrate strong computer proficiency and the ability to perform backup scheduling responsibilities as assigned by the Team Leader, including maintaining production schedules, entering and updating data, communicating schedule changes, and completing required reports.
  • Perform periodic audits of stored materials for quality compliance. This also pertains to material that is being loaded and shipped to customers.
  • Process all shipping and receiving documentation and records.
  • Label, stage, and organize materials in designated warehouse locations.
  • Conduct cycle counts and assists with physical inventory activities.
  • Follow shipping procedures to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements.
  • Adheres to the highest standards of company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations including all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Competency (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)



  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and compute simple math problems.
  • Prior SAP or similar ERP system knowledge.
  • Ability to take coaching well and communicate respectfully with others to ensure a positive teamwork culture.
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with team and during shift transition


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture.


Environment



  • Warehouse and distribution environment.
  • Frequent interaction with delivery drivers, warehouse personnel, and supervisors.
  • Inside work
  • Heat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit



Physical Characteristics



  • Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75%
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Frequent sitting, rotating up to 100%
  • Frequent typing/keyboarding/preparing documents, voice- assisted as needed.



Position Type



  • Full time
  • 40 hours per week, (Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day, 8AM-4PM)
  • Available upon business demand



Education and Experience



  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems.
  • Forklift certification with minimum 1-3 years of experience operating a Forklift.
  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving role, manufacturing preferred.
