The BNSF RailwayEngineering Department is responsible for designing, constructing, and maintaining the infrastructure of our extensive rail network. This crucial role involves applying advanced engineering principles to address complex challenges, ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations. This is a full-time position based in Spokane, WA, and is subject to on-call responsibilities for emergency situations, as well as rotating shifts that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays Travel is required approximately 50%. This position reports to the General Director of Line Maintenance Key responsibilities may include: Prioritize, plan, and direct assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment Ensure the safety, productivity and quality of all capital and operating maintenance activity on the division Direct cost-effective execution and optimize the safety and availability of the BNSF infrastructure Consistently administer labor policies and practices across the division and manage the resolution of local labor issues and disputes, as needed Manage capital equipment across division to optimize necessary fleet size and ensure high quality operation and maintenance practices by operators Supervise divisionRoadmasters Effectively plan and coordinate activities and resources so that deadlines and objectives are met Maintain positive working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, including working difficult issues within and across departmental boundaries and handling conflicting demands from multiple supervisors Maintain a positive outlook and motivate individuals and the team to higher levels of achievement by creating enthusiasm, a feeling of investment and a desire to excel Make decisions and take actionwith consideration for a wide range of factors beyond the immediate situation and an understanding of the future desired state of the organization Display a high energy level and an appropriate sense of urgency fortaking actionand getting things accomplished, while maintaining focus on what is truly important Demonstrate a genuine interest in the learning and development of others by assessing individual abilities, strengths and development needs and facilitating a plan for development Actively promote and foster diversity within the work environment by building on differences among peopleas a way topromote new ideas and thinking and treating others with dignity and respect Daily work is conducted in an indoor/outdoor safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
