Job Description


Guides operators and assigns the crew to test programs and monitors their progress. Ensures the operators follow given direction and demonstrate a high level of proficiency, safety consciousness attitude to assigned task. Ensures drivers follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), range safety guidelines and technical manuals (TM's). Review driver's logs for completeness and legibility, and conduct In-Process Inspections (IPI's). Acts as liaison/coordinator between operators and Test Officer and brings to their attention any questions, concerns or safety issues regarding the test. Attends weekly scheduling meetings, Start of Work (SOW) meetings, Hazard Analysis Work Groups (HAWG). Guides operators with all administrative documentation. Schedules operators to test programs and make changes as needed. Conducts new-hire and sustainment training. Works with other section chiefs and crew chiefs to provide the proper support as required by any particular test. Coaches and mentors employees as needed. Evaluates and implements training based on identified weaknesses discovered. Crew Chief is responsible for key access control, property book inventory and section audits as per Quality Control Plan. Conducts morning safety brief to operators and conducts course inspections.

Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications


Pay Rate:$33.24

Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements:

* Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

* Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and maintain for the duration of employment.

* Must have Tanker, and Hazardous Materials endorsements.

* Must have worked five (5) years as an Operator IV.

Job Skills Requirements:



* Must have excellent communication skills, organization, spelling, math, handwriting, and computer skills.

* Must be able to train, motivate and discipline employees.

* Must have experience with conflict management and conflict resolution.

Physical Requirements:

* Must pass a pre-employment drug screening, DOT physical and periodic retests.

* Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.

* Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

* Must meet the physical requirements necessary to perform operations outlined, performed, and stated in the SOPs for Wheel Test Vehicle Operations.

* Must be capable of climbing up and into large vehicles up to 10 feet high.

* Must be able to lift 60 lbs. unassisted.

* Must be able to work day or night shifts as necessary to meet specific test missions.

* Must be able to travel.

* Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.

* Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions.

* Must have dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:



* A minimum of two years of previous hands on experience in military or civilian automotive testing.

* Prior active duty or reserve military experience operating tracked (Abrams, Bradley's and Paladin) and/or wheeled military designed vehicles.

* Experience with navigation, turret operation and weapons systems operations.

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements:



* Must be a U.S. Citizen.

* Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.

* Must be a current TRAX employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
