Position Summary

This position manages the daily activities of the procurement of raw materials, parts, equipment and operating supplies required for production of the Division's products. Responsible for embracing and driving lean enterprise systems throughout the procurement process.

This position will directly report to the Division Material Manager and will supervise the Buyers in the Erie, PA Parker Lord NVH facility as well as Buyers in our Dayton, OH facility.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the activities of the Erie and Dayton locations purchases of raw materials, supplies, equipment or services.
  • Identifies raw material requirements from production specifications, operational schedules and engineering quality requirements.
  • Determines the most cost-effective and reliable materials needed for the manufacturing process.
  • Establishes preferred supplier selection criteria alongside Commodity Management based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations. Promotes and uses strategic suppliers.
  • Ensures purchasing strategy reflects the consistent utilization of local suppliers vs. Group strategic suppliers.
  • Works with suppliers to develop and manage continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery, and service as well as price for non-contract items.
  • Develops standard/automated re-order procedures. Will develop crisis management and supplier backup contingency programs alongside Commodity Managers.
  • Develops and benchmarks best practices among the Divisions suppliers and maintain accurate measurements and records for evaluation of suppliers.
  • Ensures purchases and capital expenditures are consistent with Division strategies and within department budgets.
  • Responsible for integrating the facilities with electronic interfacing throughout the purchasing function.
  • Lead work transfer activity for the Erie and Dayton site.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier escalations, with DSPM/CM support as needed.
  • Take a leadership role in site supplier improvement priorities, including AIP/HPT activities tied to SOTR, stockouts, and delivery performance.
  • Support supplier recovery actions and weekly supplier calls as needed.
  • Ensure pushouts, cancellations, and unassigned buy messages are reviewed and actioned appropriately.
  • Support the Division Sourcing and Procurement Manager with tracking deflation project execution and key site supply chain priorities.
  • Serve as site leadership backup for the DSPM/SCM when needed.
  • Align with Divisional Sourcing and the Business Unit Manager on Aerospace &Defense supplier priorities and commodity strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bacehlor's degree in business, engineering, or materials management required, certification in supply chain management preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years purchasing/managerial experience
  • Analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.
  • Functional understanding of cost accounting and adaptation to practical applications.
  • Advanced computer skills and understanding of electronic processing.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
  • Innovator who embraces lean enterprises principles and practices.
