Overview The Business & Process Analyst supports the organization by evaluating business needs, documenting requirements, assisting in the selection of technology solutions, and optimizing processes across IT-supported operations. This role acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring technology satisfies users' needs while creating workflow efficiencies and aligning with organizational goals. Key Responsibilities *Collaborate with business units to gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements. *Map, assess, and improve existing business processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency, automation, or system enhancement. *Translate business needs into clear specifications for IT developers, system administrators, and vendors. *Support IT project teams through requirements validation, testing, and change management activities. *Conduct workflow analysis, data validation, and root cause investigations for system or process issues. *Develop and maintain process documentation, system diagrams, and user guides. *Partner with stakeholders to ensure solutions align with organizational policies, technology standards, and strategic objectives. *Assist in evaluating technology options and recommending improvements to systems, processes, and operational practices. Preferred Skills *Relevant professional certification(s) from the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), Project Management Institute (PMI), Lean Six Sigma, ITIL, COBIT, etc. *Deep knowledge of requirements gathering methods, process improvement techniques, and testing practices. *Strong analytical, problem solving, and process modeling skills. *Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non technical audiences. *Skills* Business analysis, Process Improvement, Requirements gathering *Top Skills Details* Business analysis,Process Improvement,Requirements gathering *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Key Challenges Being Addressed *Business units often present requests that are incomplete or poorly defined. *IT managers and SMEs are currently performing BA work in addition to their primary responsibilities. *There is a need for deeper requirements gathering and process analysis before technology solutions are designed. *Existing business processes frequently need to be analyzed and improved before automation occurs. Core Responsibilities *Conduct requirements gathering sessions with business units. *Analyze current-state workflows and operational processes. *Document business and functional requirements. *Identify inefficiencies and opportunities for process improvement. *Create future-state process recommendations. *Produce workflow diagrams and supporting documentation. *Partner with technical teams to translate business needs into solution designs. *Support the project lifecycle alongside the Portfolio Manager. Business Analysis vs. Process Improvement Focus LFUCG described the role as approximately: *70% Business Analyst *30% Business Process Improvement Analyst The organization views business analysis as the primary focus, while process improvement serves as a complementary skill set. Documentation Expectations Potential deliverables include: *Business requirements documents (BRDs). *Process maps. *Workflow diagrams (Visio). *Project and initiative documentation that helps mature organizational practices. Technical Expectations *Minimal technical requirements. *Not expected to create technical specifications or detailed system designs. *Needs enough technical awareness to understand systems and business workflows. *Primary output is documentation and process understanding that technical teams can implement. Testing Expectations *May participate in testing activities. *Primary responsibility remains requirements validation rather than test creation. *Not expected to function as a QA analyst. *Experience Level* Intermediate Level *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Lexington, KY. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
