Overview

Alliance Cancer Specialists is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Lead Pharmacy Technician to support our growing oncology pharmacy team. In this role, you will play an essential part in ensuring patients receive timely, accurate, and affordable access to oral oncology medications while delivering exceptional customer service and support throughout their treatment journey.

What You'll Do

As a Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will:

  • Process prescriptions and submit insurance claims for payment.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including medication histories, allergies, insurance information, and prescription documentation.
  • Submit and track prior authorizations and assist with Medicare Part B verification requirements.
  • Help patients access manufacturer and foundation financial assistance programs for high-cost oral medications.
  • Prepare, label, and coordinate prescription dispensing while ensuring all required physician or pharmacist reviews and approvals are completed.
  • Educate and assist patients with prescription refills, medication adherence, and follow-up activities.
  • Receive, verify, and process medication orders from vendors.
  • Support inventory management, monthly reporting, drug recalls, and return processes.
  • Document patient interactions in the electronic health record (EHR) and pharmacy management system.
  • Serve as a resource for staff regarding oral oncology medication dispensing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, infection-control policies, and quality initiatives.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification preferred (or required where mandated by state law).
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy, oncology, or oral medication dispensing is a plus.
