Job Title: Storage Cashier Department: Storage Operations Reports To: Regional Storage Manager / General Manager / Operations Manager / Storage Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Work Schedule: This role is required to work during scheduled business hours, with flexibility to work overtime or weekends as needed to meet business needs. Work Location: In-person at assigned storage location Position Overview: The Storage Cashier is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the storage facility. This includes leasing storage units, processing payments, maintaining the facility, and responding to tenant needs. The position also requires attention to cleanliness, safety, and compliance with company policies. This is a frontline role involving general office work and light maintenance duties. Key Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following, as additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned: Customer Service & Leasing:
- Greet and assist tenants and prospective tenants professionally.
- Respond to phone and in-person inquiries, explain rental terms, and convert leads into leases.
- Execute leases and maintain tenant records.
- Maintain positive relationships with current tenants and support tenant retention.
Collections & Financial Transactions:
- Prepare and send monthly tenant statements and handle rent collections.
- Call delinquent accounts and issue pay or vacate notices.
- Assist with evictions and unit auctions, when applicable.
- Properly collect, record, and deposit all funds and documentation at the end of each shift.
Facility Operations:
- Conduct daily walkthroughs to assess unit condition, maintenance needs, and cleanliness.
- Report damages or hazards, including potholes, signage, broken locks or doors, and maintenance issues.
- Complete incident reports for property damage or customer claims.
- Support general upkeep and cleanliness of the facility and office.
Administrative Duties:
- Accurately clock in/out using the electronic timekeeping system (Kronos).
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Remain visible and available to customers throughout the shift, except for scheduled breaks.
- Perform tasks independently or in a team environment, with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications: Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One to three months of related experience preferred.
- Comfortable with data entry and electronic systems.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions, memos, and short correspondence.
- Effective in one-on-one and small group communication.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic to compute payments and provide accurate change.
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records and use basic tools (calculator, register).
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense in routine and occasionally varied situations.
- Capable of understanding and executing both verbal and written instructions.
Licenses:
- Valid state-issued driver's license and proof of insurance.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Physical:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, and speak.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- May be required to drive a UTV, golf cart, or work truck.
Work Environment:
Frequent exposure to outdoor weather, wet or humid conditions, fumes, and moderate to loud noise. Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions and relocate to another facility with little or no notice. Other: All employees are subject to internal audits to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures related to recording, handling, and depositing of funds.
