Job Title: Parking Enforcement

Department: Field Operations

Reports To: Area Supervisor / Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: This role requires availability during scheduled shifts, with flexibility for occasional overtime, weekend, or holiday assignments based on operational needs.

Work Location: Various locations and assigned routes across city location

Position Overview:

The Parking Enforcement team member is responsible for monitoring and enforcing parking regulations at assigned facilities and routes. This includes lot checking, issuing violation notices, documenting incidents, communicating with customers, and reporting maintenance concerns. The position supports compliance, cleanliness, and safe operations while maintaining courteous interactions with the public.

Key Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to the following, as additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned:

Enforcement & Monitoring:



  • Patrol assigned parking lots or routes and ensure compliance with posted rules and regulations.
  • Issue violation notices and "parking owed" slips to unauthorized or unpaid vehicles.
  • Record accurate vehicle data including time, location, and plate information.
  • Use manual or digital tools for tire chalking, timing, and tracking vehicle returns.


Customer Interaction & Communication:



  • Provide respectful, professional customer service and explain payment options or rules when needed.
  • Deescalate situations calmly and involve a supervisor when necessary.
  • Inform supervisor of unusual activity or hazards and complete incident reports as required.



Facility Maintenance & Safety:



  • Clear trash and debris during patrols and report maintenance issues such as potholes, signage issues, or safety hazards.
  • Assist with flipping signs, updating rate boards, or completing on-site projects when requested.


Documentation & Compliance:



  • Submit complete, accurate shift reports, security logs, and timecards.
  • Use electronic devices for data entry when applicable.
  • Follow all company policies regarding cash handling, audit procedures, and uniform compliance.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience:



  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 to 3 months of related experience in parking enforcement or customer-facing roles is desirable.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.


Licenses:



  • Valid state-issued driver's license and proof of insurance required.
  • Must pass a company driving skills test.


Skills & Abilities:



  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow simple instructions and memos.
  • Effective communication skills in English for one-on-one and small group interactions.
  • Ability to apply common sense and respond to standard problems using good judgment.
  • Basic familiarity with mobile or handheld devices for digital documentation.



Physical Demands and Work Environment:



  • Physical:

    • Regularly required to stand, walk, run, use hands, reach with arms, and perform repetitive motions.
    • Occasionally required to sit, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
    • Must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds.
    • Visual demands include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.




Work Environment: Frequent exposure to outdoor weather (rain, heat, cold), wet or humid conditions, airborne particles, and moderate to loud noise levels depending on the environment.

Other:



  • Must provide own transportation and cover associated costs (fuel, maintenance, insurance, etc.).
  • Must be able to relocate or transfer to another location, facility, or route without prior notice.
  • Employees are subject to internal audits to verify compliance with all operational and reporting procedures. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
