Paid Time Off:

Position Overview:

The Industrial Group Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive bids and budgets for projects within the Industrial Group. This role manages all aspects of the estimating process, including reviewing project plans and specifications, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and submitting final proposals. The Estimator works closely with the Business Development team and Line of Business (LOB) leadership to ensure each estimate supports project goals and aligns with company strategy.

Key responsibilities include preparing detailed cost estimates, maintaining up-to-date pricing data, and supporting bid day activities. The Estimator plays a critical role in producing thorough, timely estimates that reflect current market conditions, while fostering strong relationships with both internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Organize and prepare project documentation for estimating purposes.
  2. Participate in all phases of the bidding process, including material and labor takeoffs, equipment pricing, and coordination with subcontractors and vendors.
  3. Issue and follow up on requests for bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  4. Review project specifications and drawings to inform accurate estimates.
  5. Develop estimates for all project phases, from conceptual through fully designed documents.
  6. Complete all required estimating documentation from start to finish.
  7. Collaborate with the Director or project lead to review estimates before submission.
  8. Support bid day activities and make real-time adjustments as needed.
  9. Maintain up-to-date pricing and labor data in estimating software.
  10. Manage and update a schematic budget database.
  11. Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
  12. Collaborate effectively with the Industrial Group Business Development team and LOB leadership.
  13. Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality as essential job functions.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Foster long-term relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal business development teams.
  2. Represent the company professionally during job walks and project presentations.
Position Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of mechanical systems and construction industry practices.
  2. Familiarity with industrial piping, HVAC systems, and heavy equipment.
  3. Ability to interpret RFPs and bid documents to initiate the estimating process.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  6. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  7. Field experience or technical background in industrial systems.
  8. Basic understanding of construction accounting principles.
  9. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and P&IDs.
  10. Experience estimating piping and/or sheet metal systems.
  11. Ability to design basic layouts for plumbing, piping, or sheet metal systems.
  12. Collaborative and team-oriented approach, with the ability to lead and delegate on large estimates.
  13. Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel) and working knowledge of word processing tools.
  14. Willingness to travel for site visits and presentations as needed.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in estimating industrial projects.
  3. Advanced proficiency with computer-based estimating tools.

Required Licensing and Other Certifications:

  1. Maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
