THE POSITION

The Corrections Community Center Monitor role with the Department of Corrections (DOC) at the York Community Corrections Center (CCC) offers an opportunity to support positive change every day. This position places you in a setting where your steady presence helps maintain safety and structure. You will guide reentrants as they work toward successful reintegration while ensuring the center operates smoothly. This position is ideal for someone who values teamwork, consistency, and community impact.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the safe, orderly, and secure operation of a state-operated Community Corrections Center by monitoring reentrants and maintaining daily procedures. It requires attention to detail, strong observation skills, and steady communication. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Oversight: Maintain security of the center, observe reentrant behavior, and document counts, searches, and activities
  • Behavior Monitoring: Watch Closed-Circuit Televisions (CCTV), record observations, issue misconducts, and attend disciplinary hearings
  • Orientation Support: Conduct orientation for new reentrants, explain policies and rules, and provide information on public services
  • Movement Control: Manage reentrant and visitor sign in and sign out registers and control movement throughout the center
  • Testing and Checks: Conduct destination checks, administer breathalyzer and urinalysis tests, and record results
  • Center Readiness: Inspect living and common areas for cleanliness, safety, and security while helping keep the center inspection ready

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Work hours will include different shifts or irregular hours.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: : In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to work in York, York County, Pennsylvania.
  • This position requires shift work. You must be willing and able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to: performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the military)
