Certified Peer Specialist - Wernersville State Hospital

This position focuses on supporting individuals through the recovery process by offering guidance, encouragement, and peer-based strategies that promote personal growth. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

• Recovery Support: Assist individuals in identifying personal goals and developing steps toward recovery
• Group Facilitation: Lead group sessions that encourage shared learning and peer connection
• Skill Building: Teach problem solving skills and help individuals identify and overcome fears
• Advocacy Efforts: Support individuals in understanding resources, services, and their personal rights
• Progress Documentation: Observe and record individual progress toward achieving program goals
• Collaborative Work: Participate in meetings and maintain positive working relationships with staff and peers

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
• Overtime and travel as needed. You will be subject to emergency call-ins.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

• You must be in possession of an active certification as a Certified Peer Specialist issued by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB).

Other Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
