The Certified Peer Specialist role with the Department of Human Services gives you the chance to actively support individuals as they work toward their recovery goals. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on supporting individuals through the recovery process by offering guidance, encouragement, and peer-based strategies that promote personal growth. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Recovery Support: Assist individuals in identifying personal goals and developing steps toward recovery
- Group Facilitation: Lead group sessions that encourage shared learning and peer connection
- Skill Building: Teach problem solving skills and help individuals identify and overcome fears
- Advocacy Efforts: Support individuals in understanding resources, services, and their personal rights
- Progress Documentation: Observe and record individual progress toward achieving program goals
- Collaborative Work: Participate in meetings and maintain positive working relationships with staff and peers

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime and travel as needed. You will be subject to emergency call-ins.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of an active certification as a Certified Peer Specialist issued by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB).
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
