General Job Description Electrical Instructor Location: Lakeland, FL Company: IES Residential (IESR) IES Residential is seeking a passionate and experienced Electrical Instructor to join our growing team in Lakeland, Florida. This role is an exciting opportunity to help develop the next generation of electrical professionals by delivering high-quality training and mentorship to our employees. If you have extensive residential electrical experience, a strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), and a desire to share your knowledge with others, we encourage you to apply. Previous teaching or training experience is a plus but not required. What You'll Do Lead classroom instruction that develops the skills, knowledge, and abilities needed for success in the electrical trade. Deliver engaging lessons through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and real-world simulations. Coordinate with local divisions to provide on-the-job training opportunities that reinforce classroom learning. Maintain accurate training records, attendance, and progress documentation. Partner with division leadership to identify training needs for both current and future employees. Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices. Teach curriculum that aligns with current electrical codes and industry standards. Effectively manage classroom environments and promote student engagement and success. Maintain consistency and quality across training cycles to ensure graduates return to their divisions prepared to contribute immediately. Develop, organize, and deliver specialty training courses based on company needs and industry trends. Create, revise, and update training materials to reflect code changes, new technologies, and evolving business requirements. Travel periodically to local divisions, training sites, and company locations as needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Education None Minimum Years of Experience 6+ Specific Qualifications Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of residential electrical experience required. Strong knowledge and practical application of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Experience in single-family residential construction. Experience in multi-family residential construction. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to mentor, motivate, and develop others. Prior teaching, coaching, or training experience preferred but not required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other training-related software preferred. Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout classrooms, training facilities, and construction job sites for extended periods. Ability to demonstrate electrical installation techniques and safely operate hand and power tools. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders, work at varying heights, and access confined spaces when conducting field training or demonstrations. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required during hands-on instruction and site visits. Ability to communicate effectively in both classroom and field environments. Work Environment Work is performed in a combination of classroom settings, training facilities, office environments, and active residential construction sites. Regular exposure to varying weather conditions when conducting field visits and jobsite training. May be exposed to construction-related hazards, including noise, dust, uneven terrain, and moving equipment; adherence to all safety policies and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. Frequent interaction with employees, trainees, supervisors, and division leadership. Occasional travel may be required to support training initiatives across multiple locations.
