Job Description:

Works in collaboration with the Head Football Coach and assigned Coordinator to develop and implement weekly practice and game plans to maximize player abilities. Operates as mentor and developer.

JOB DUTIES

  • Collaborates closely with the Head Football Coach and the Offensive or Defensive Coordinator to develop and implement weekly practice and game plans aimed at maximizing player abilities. Assists the assigned coordinator in practice preparation, which involves organizing positional drills, managing player repetitions, and overseeing player rotations.

  • Coaches players as directed by the Head Coach and assists with Special Teams. Serves as a mentor and developer, focusing on enhancing the skills and performance of the players.

  • Attends daily meetings with the Head Football Coach and assigned staff are required, along with leading player meetings and coaching during game-day competitions.

  • Evaluates the opponent's personnel and contributes to the creation of a weekly game plan. Gameday responsibilities will vary and will be assigned by both the Head Coach and the respective coordinator.

  • Responsible for cooperation and collaboration with other employees, fostering a spirit of teamwork and collegiality, and compliance with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.

  • Periodic travel for competitions and involvement in weekend recruiting events may be required occasionally.

  • May include providing professional leadership during emergencies and performing other tasks as required.

  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Preferred:

  • Two years of experience within college athletic programs.

  • Proficiency in all phases of the duties performed is required

  • Coaching experience on defense.

  • NCAA experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Understands defensive schemes and can articulate a teaching philosophy on how students will be introduced and trained with

  • the content.

  • Understands film and game planning software.

Preferred:

  • A history of productive relationships with staff and coaches.

  • All jobs require a current Criminal Background Check (CBC).

  • Position is limited to Texas residents.

  • This is an in-person, seasonal position.

  • Remote work is not possible.

  • On and off-campus recruiting responsibilities will be required/expected for this position.
