Start your healthcare career with paid hand on training through UNC Health's Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program (MAAP)!

This full-time, 12-month program combines up to2,000 hours of on-the-job trainingwith144 hours of online courseworkto prepare participants for a career as a Certified Medical Assistant.

Apprentices will progress through three learning phases - Administrative Apprentice I, Basic Clinical Apprentice II, and Intermediate Clinical Apprentice III - while working in an outpatient clinic setting.

Upon successful completion, participants are eligible to take theNHA Medical Assistant Certification Examand, once certified, may apply for a permanentMedical Assistant I, Certifiedposition within UNC Health.

Application Process: Apply online from June 15th - June 20th

The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program will start on August 3rd

To be eligible, candidates must:

• Access to computer and internet for online coursework
• Commitment to completing the 12-month program and obtaining certification
• Intent to work at UNC Health as a Certified Medical Assistant for at least two years after completion

General Program Overview

• Paid, full-time apprenticeship with online and clinical training
• No prior healthcare experience required

Education Requirements:
* None required as long at other position requirements are met.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of employment.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Health care experience preferred but not required.

* Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position as outlined above. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to engage positively with patients and families and to work as a team with staff and providers.
