| Job Summary |
Reporting to the Parking & Transportation Manager this position will assist in the daily operation of the Parking Office at Parking Structure 3 by completing supporting functions as assigned by the Parking & Transportation Manager. |
| Minimum Education and Experience |
High school or
GED and 6 months or more of customer service experience with the ability to handle conflicts with customers. |
| Preferred Education and Experience |
* College degree is preferred, but not required for application.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office skills.
* Prefer candidate that possesses knowledge of the local area and the UT Dallas campus. |
| Other Qualifications |
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
* Assist in the daily operation of the Parking Office at Parking Structure 3 by completing supporting functions as assigned by Parking & Transportation Manager.
* Identify and review parking accounts of vehicles subject to vehicle immobilization in accordance with UT Dallas Parking & Transportation policy.
* Authorize and install vehicle immobilization devices (wheel boots) on vehicles in violation of UT Dallas Parking & Transportation policy.
* Patrol assigned areas by vehicle or on foot to ensure compliance with existing parking rules and regulations.
* Write parking citations for illegally parked vehicles.
* Maintain close communications using two-way radios or cell phones (provided) via voice and text messaging.
* Oversee parking enforcement officers (student workers) during hours of enforcement.
* Prepare reports that document citation records and activities.
* Monitor, note, and report suspicious persons and situations, safety hazards, and unusual or illegal activity in patrol area.
* Observe and report hazardous conditions such as missing traffic signals or signs, and street markings that need to be repainted or repaired.
* Assist with day-to-day Parking Office clerical and customer service duties.
* Occasionally responsible for minute-taking during staff meetings.
* Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned. |
| Physical Demands and Working Conditions |
Must be able to work assigned hours. Shift will be a total of nine hours with a one-hour lunch included. Hours vary from 8:00am - 5:00pm, 9:00am-6:00pm, 10:00am -7:00pm, 12:00pm - 9:00pm, and 2:00 pm - 11:00pm, but schedule will be set for 3-6 months in advance.
The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to very loud. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run. |

| Additional Information |
- Individuals may apply without a Texas Driver's license but if hired will not be permitted to operate a UTD vehicle or golf cart until a valid TX driver's license is obtained.
- Individuals authorized to operate a UTD vehicle or golf cart must have a valid Texas driver's license and submit to vehicle safety training
- Must submit to and pass a criminal background check.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to define goals, meet urgent deadlines, organize and prioritize projects.
- Demonstrate ability to follow directives and asking questions as appropriate.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel.
