Who we are and what we do:

The Accountability and Reporting (AR) team plays a pivotal role in establishing transparent standards for agency-wide data stewardship in accountability calculation and State Report Card reporting. The team implements policies to ensure schools and districts are evaluated according to both state and federal legal requirements. Each year, the AR team reviews and applies updated accountability measures that assess school and district performance based on student learning outcomes.

How you make a difference in this role:

The team is responsible for various projects and processes to ensure all data metrics used for accountability and State Report Card reporting are accurate and verified with schools and districts prior to publication. These projects and processes include, but not limited to, accountability data verification process, graduation cohort process, college and career readiness data verification process, state report card data review process, and Tennessee school directory data verification process.

Job Overview:

The Accountability and Reporting Program Specialist reports to the Senior Director of Accountability and Reporting. This role manages projects and processes assigned by the Senior Director and support other processes as team priorities evolve.

Key Responsibilities:

Document Review:

The AR team processes over 50,000 appeals annually to verify accountability data. This role will conduct independent review and quality assurance of accountability appeals documentation to verify data accuracy and alignment with established business rules; identify trends or recurring issues; and provide feedback to inform refinement of accountability processes and guidance.

Tennessee School Directory (TNSD) Process Management:

TNSD is a database used by the department to gather and report school and district information at federal, state, and local levels. Its accuracy is critically important as it is used by not only the AR team for accountability and report card reporting, but also other TDOE teams for their own reporting. This role Serve as the primary coordinator for the Tennessee School Directory (TNSD) verification process, ensuring statewide data accuracy relied upon for accountability determinations, federal reporting, and cross-division operational use.

Project and Process Support:

The role requires flexibility in responding to the evolving needs of the team, which include assisting with other processes as needed. By supporting both the routine and ad-hoc tasks that arise in the fast-paced environment of educational reporting, this role serves as a linchpin for operational excellence within the AR team.
