ABOUT THE ROLE

The Batch Plant and Quality Control Manager leads batching operations and quality control for precast and prestressed concrete products. This role ensures consistent production of high-quality materials that meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. The position partners closely with Engineering and Production teams to improve performance, efficiency, and overall product quality.

Salary range $89,500- $115,000/Year. Based on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Lead all batch plant operations and concrete quality control activities.
  • Develop, review, and approve concrete mix designs for prestressed applications.
  • Ensure compliance with American Concrete Institute (ACI), Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), and ASTM standards.
  • Supervise and mentor QC technicians, batch operators, and lab personnel.
  • Enforce quality procedures for prestressing, including strand placement, tensioning, and release strength validation.
  • Monitor batching accuracy and material consistency to meet performance standards.
  • Analyze concrete test data and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on prestress calculations, camber, and performance expectations.
  • Inspect and approve raw materials, including aggregates, cement, admixtures, and prestressing components.
  • Maintain calibration of batching systems, stressing equipment, and testing tools.
  • Investigate quality issues and lead root cause analysis with corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records, including batch reports, test results, and certifications.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI certification standards, audits, and quality systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety standards.


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in prestressed concrete and a passion for quality and continuous improvement. They are detail-oriented, data-driven, and able to collaborate effectively across engineering and production teams. This individual thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE



  • 5+ years of precast/prestressed concrete, batching, or QC experience (2+ years leadership).
  • Strong knowledge of prestressed concrete principles and structural behavior.
  • Experience with ACI, PCI, ASTM, and DOT standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and mix designs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with QC systems, reporting, and data analysis.
  • PCI plant experience preferred.
  • PCI Quality Control Technician Certification (Level I required; II/III preferred).
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • ACI Strength Test Technician (preferred).
  • ACI Laboratory Testing Technician (preferred).
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (preferred).
  • Experience with batching software and automated plant systems (preferred).
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience (Six Sigma/Kaizen preferred).


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Visits to active plant and field locations are required based on operational needs.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required while in the plant and field.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate active plant and field environments as needed.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and safely move through industrial work areas.
  • May be exposed to moving equipment, machinery, and other standard industrial hazards.
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, as well as noise, dust, and vibration.
