What to Expect
The Tesla Energy team is looking for a skilled Procurement Specialist to execute Tesla's infrastructure development sourcing strategy for self-perform commercial projects across Megapack, Solar, and Supercharger initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, subcontractors, manufacturers, and contractors, with a strong background in negotiation, strategic sourcing, logistics coordination, expediting deliverables, and procurement. This role demands the ability to develop and implement cost-effective sourcing strategies for industrial, manufacturing, distribution, and mission-critical construction projects supporting renewable energy deployment. The successful candidate will excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balancing strategic planning among a myriad of teams with hands-on operational execution.

What You'll Do
  • Actively lower costs by sourcing and onboarding additional vendors into the procurement system, negotiating pricing agreements, and working directly with vendors to reduce expenses for Megapack, Solar, and Supercharger projects
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure and Workplace Teams to assess purchase order (PO) needs, draft POs, track deliveries, and resolve invoices or supplier issues efficiently, with a focus on self-perform commercial execution
  • Manage facilities and construction spares and commodities of stock, ensuring optimal inventory levels and cost efficiency for renewable energy site builds and operations
  • Lead sourcing efforts for electrical, civil, mechanical, janitorial, and construction commodities, including facilities and construction materials, rentals, and services for Megapack factories, Solar installations, and Supercharger networks, while maintaining supplier relationships
  • Conduct market research and spend analysis to develop informed sourcing strategies, pre-qualify suppliers, and negotiate cost reduction opportunities tailored to self-perform commercial projects
  • Implement global/regional agreements to consolidate suppliers, analyze historical and projected spend, and optimize contracts for cost-effective pricing in support of Tesla Energy initiatives
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives through benchmarking, competitive quoting, and "Lean" practices, while supporting purchase order reconciliation and resolving commercial issues with vendors across Megapack, Solar, and Supercharger scopes. Track quarterly spend savings of material procurement and equipment rentals. Work in tandem with various project team requisition forms, receive materials, review and approve/reject invoices within Telsa's Sharepoint and Warp platforms

What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing and project management for Civil, Structural, Architectural, and MEP in industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or mission-critical construction projects, with a preference for renewable energy or self-perform commercial environments
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Bluebeam, and Acrobat, with strong analytical and decision-making skills, with an expertise in strategic sourcing, opportunity analysis, contract negotiations, and managing various contract types (Lump Sum, GMP, Cost-plus, T&M)

  • Proven ability to identify cost drivers, resolve supplier or business process issues, and drive continuous improvement in fast-paced project settings

  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in building and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure operational efficiency and cost savings for commercial-scale energy projects, with an ability to triage and manage multiple projects and multiple team members as project milestone dates and jobsite demands fluctuate

    Expected Compensation
    $64,800 - $140,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
