As an Automotive Mechanic with the Department of Transportation, you will work with a variety of vehicles and equipment that support daily transportation operations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles, tools, and equipment used in transportation operations. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:
- Vehicle Repair: Perform skilled maintenance and repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment
- Preventive Maintenance: Complete routine services such as oil changes, diagnostics, tune ups, and system checks to keep equipment in good condition
- Inspection Duties: Conduct official safety and emissions inspections and complete required documentation
- Equipment Adjustments: Carry out field adjustments, minor repairs, and servicing tasks to support safe operation
- Emergency Service: Provide road service when needed and assist with repairs at field locations outside the garage
- Safety Practices: Follow safety procedures, maintain awareness of hazards, and report incidents or unsafe conditions promptly
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,841 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be in possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic Certification or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
Additional Requirement:
- You must obtain a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate and a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate, upon hire.
- You must supply your own toolbox and basic tools.
- You must reside in Chester County
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
