Description
This position is responsible for receiving and processing customer orders and performing office, clerical and administrative duties relating to customer service and other general office functions.

Job Details

Role Specific Responsibilities:
  • Process orders for customers and other intra-company locations. Including 3rd party international customers.
  • Prepare export shipping documents including; Work Orders, Certificates of Analysis (COA), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), container labels, customs paperwork, and other paperwork required for international shipments.
  • Coordinate railcar shipments from Denham Springs to customer ensuring delivery date is met.
  • Resolve customer complaints, order discrepancies, and customer requirements including discrepancies on Master bill of ladings for export shipments.
  • Coordinate export shipments with the freight forwarding companies. This includes setting up the shipments, managing booking information, tracking shipments and documenting deliveries.
  • Prepare domestic shipping documents including; work orders with Certificates of Analysis (COA) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Maintain adequate finished inventory at Denham Springs Toller and Warehouse facilities. Ensuring material is kept in stock at appropriate levels.
  • Issue purchase orders to Denham Springs Toller's for production of finished materials to maintain inventory.
  • Monitor Half Life-Expiration/Slow Moving Inventory reports for Denham Springs Toller's and Warehouses.
  • For expired material, have Toller or Denham Springs QC recertify the material. If in specification, assign day code and transfer in system so material will not appear on slow moving reports.
  • Hazmat certified for shipping Infineum C9467, Texalene 2180. Ensure carriers has appropriate placards as needed.
  • Maintain database of customer profiles.
  • Record and process sample requests. Work with chemists to fill requests if needed.
  • Intimate knowledge of products and service offerings. Shipping same material with different names as needed.
  • Work with Denham Springs plant personnel to schedule production of specialty products to ensure customer's delivery dates are met.
  • Assist other plant employees with shipment of goods/materials for their departments.
  • Cross-train with all other Customer Service Representatives and perform duties when they are unavailable.
  • Obtain freight quotes from carriers for both international and domestic lanes to ensure cost effective yet dependable carrier is utilized.
  • Coordinate with freight carriers to schedule trucks and other forms of transportation for "inland" transportation of outgoing international and domestic shipments.
  • Access needs of customer and recommend alternative Denham Springs ship from locations/packaging where appropriate.
  • Process purchase orders and accounts payable invoices.
  • Perform general office functions such as answering phones, filing, typing and distribution of mail and paperwork. Order office supplies. Maintain plant central files and records.
  • Month end closing: reconcile Denham Springs Toller and warehouse finished inventory, making system adjustments as needed.
  • Back up for Customer Service Manager: Responsibilities include: Coordinate all orders filled by Denham Springs overseas manufacturing sites. This includes - setting up orders with the overseas manufacturer, verifying shipments, managing inventory, coordinating billing and charges from the overseas manufacturers, and managing other details associated with these shipments. Maintaining Denham Springs railcar spur activity so raw materials and finished materials are appropriately placed for loading or offloading.

Education and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma

Experience:
  • 5 plus years' experience in Customer Service, preferably in the Chemical Industry
  • SAP knowledge is required
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) similar or related experience a plus
  • Strong understanding of logistics related to the Chemical Industry experience required

  • Strong Customer Service knowledge working with supply chain processes and procedures
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reason and influence at all levels is a plus
