Overview:

This is a Temporary full time Technical Labor position based in Lubbock, TX, to support various construction, excavation, demolition and environmental restoration projects at the Reese Technology Center, and potentially other locations across the country.

IMPORTANT: FPM Remediations, Inc. is an 8(a) HUBZone business certified by the Small Business Administration (SBA). FPMR employees who live in a HUBZone, may be eligible to receive additional earnings paid on a bi-weekly basis. These additional earnings will be paid following verification and provision of supporting documents. The HUBZone earnings will continue to be paid if residency in a HUBZone is maintained.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Technical Laborer for installation of pipeline, valves, conduits, utilities, pump systems, system controls and commercial structures.
  • Performs daily installation of structures and systems utilizing electric system .
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two years of work experience preferred.
  • Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, and electronic signal/controls
  • Experience operating other types of construction/heavy equipment is a plus.
  • Experience working with safety equipment preferred (fall protection, eye protection, hearing protection, insect protection, PPE, etc).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Applicant must demonstrate flexibility to work under direction and possibly integrate newly learned skills to ensure job completion and team workflow.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and electronic signal/controls theory, relevant codes and practices.
  • Willingness to provide labor for placing conduit, piping, utility, signal and controls for the construction of utilities, facilities, pipeline, pumping and water purification systems.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • 40-hour Hazwoper certification is required.
  • Red Cross first aid training is required.
  • Training can be provided, if necessary, the selected applicant will be paid $20 per hour for any class time and new certifications.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to occasionally stand; walk; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; operate office equipment, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 80 pounds for 50 feet, shovel, wrench, drill, or rake. Job requires the ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of the projects.

Work Environment:

The work environment consists of working within a 2 to 8 person team for construction of pipeline, valves, conduits, utilities, pump systems, system controls and commercial structures. Sitework includes construction outside for durations that may exceed an 8 hr day. Job requires the ability to learn new skills and may require additional certifications and education to be paid for by the company.

Although our number one goal on the site is safe practices, a close second is maintaining camaraderie and a spirited fun work environment. The current personnel in place are very team oriented and work together to ensure the day's task are safely accomplished while still enjoying themselves every day. The site is located near the Lubbock city limits at the Reese Technology Center.
