The Maintenance Area Engineer supports the technical aspects of the Facilities Department, which ensures reliable operation of facility equipment through proactive efforts, returns down equipment to service in a timely manner, does their part in creating a safe workplace for people and the environment, and improves facility operations. This individual assists in matters related to the reliability of facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Advise and assist in matters of process engineering, product engineering, employee safety, environmental safety, plant layout, productivity, and product quality.
* Enhance the facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure understanding by reviewing, documenting, and communicating information gathered from assignments.
* Performs Root Cause Corrective Action investigations, documenting changes for safety and performance improvements.
* Assist with the equipment troubleshooting and repair strategy for planned and unplanned equipment failures.
* Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document and review equipment history, spare parts and technical information.
* Define the work scope for projects and generate written and/or verbal proposals for these projects; including permitting requirements as applicable.
* Verify and update facility drawings and P&ID's.
* Lead projects for replacement of facility equipment.
* Coordinate and oversee contractors performing inspections and preventative maintenance tasks; including safety training and permitting requirements as applicable.
* Develop and document predictive, preventative, and/or periodic maintenance tasks, utilizing the facility CMMS.
* Promotes equipment standardization, recommends spare parts levels.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
REQUIRED
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a combination of education and documented years of relevant facilities experience.

CERTIFICATIONS
PREFERRED
* Craft or skills certification relevant to the job.
