Compensation Range:91,600 - 114,500

Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.

Job Purpose

Responsible for working on complex technical and engineering problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Responsible for exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Business leadership is provided through resolution of difficult problems. Manage and coordinate the work of a highly skilled engineering staff. Manages day-to-day engineering functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives. The manager provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. The manager establishes and recommends changes to policies that affect the organization. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and serious delays in overall schedules. The manager frequently interacts with functional peer group managers and interacts with senior management. Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas and suppliers. The manager has responsibility for all department facets including costs, methods and employees. Provides technical leadership for manufacturing process and controls engineering innovations. Coordinate engineering best practices, such as lean manufacturing and Six Sigma. Provide direction and development, installation and improvement activities for new equipment. Oversee key projects.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages multiple manufacturing engineers and, process engineers, controls engineers and design specialists.

  • Coordinates alignment with world-wide TPPL operations and corporate directions.
  • Manage the group's effort in areas of scrap reduction, productivity improvement and quality improvement programs to meet business objectives defined both through direct input of supervisors as well as through the review of existing business systems.
  • Manage group's efforts to develop and maintain accurate process documentation
  • Strong resource management skills
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills
  • Strong equipment development skills
  • Strong familiarity with manufacturing principles, process and quality control methods
  • Familiarity with battery design principles

Basic accounting and business planning skills

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: BS in Engineering with 10+ years manufacturing engineering experience.

Language Skills: English with college level written and verbal skills

Mathematical Skills: Mathematical skills commensurate with a four year technical degree.

Reasoning Ability: Advanced root cause and abstract problem solving skills, visualization

Computer Skills: Competency in Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), project planning and CAD software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Lean, Six Sigma and project management certifications are desirable.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of workplace safety and ergonomics.
  • Strong understanding of statistical process/quality control.
  • Strong planning, communication and management skills.
  • Awareness of industry related environmental/ regulatory requirements such as OSHA and EPA regulations.

Other Qualifications:

Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Limited travel required to other EnerSys manufacturing plants, vendor sites, corporate office, training courses and industrial shows.
