Position Summary

Owens Corning's Waxahachie manufacturing plant is seeking Student Summer Help to support production and housekeeping activities during a structured 90day summer program. This role provides hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations while reinforcing Owens Corning's strong safety culture. All assigned tasks are performed at floor/ground level only.

Primary Responsibilities

Student Summer Help may be assigned to one or more of the following duties:

Recon / Insulation Repurposing





    • Feed wool
    • Strip wool
    • Receive wool




Production Support







      • V1 Reselect - flipping boards only






Housekeeping





    • Sweeping in the recon area
    • Blowing around the recon area using a leaf blower only




General Cleaning





    • Cleaning floor/ground-level surfaces only




Painting





    • Floor-level painting activities only




All work must be performed in accordance with Owens Corning safety policies and required PPE.

Qualifications



  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma and currently enrolled in a college, university, or trade school
  • Must be a dependent of an Owens Corning employee
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong safety mindset and willingness to follow all safety rules
  • Interest in manufacturing or industrial operations

The employee should hold the following abilities:



  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must possess strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Must have strong internal and external customer service skills
  • Must work well in team environment
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must have ability to do basic math
  • Possess leadership skills
  • Strong commitment to safety



ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:



  • The ability to work varying or 12 hour rotating shifts
  • Exposure to hot/cold temperatures on a regular basis
  • Exposure to continuous noise and able to wear hearing protection
  • Lifting, carrying/moving up to 50 pounds
  • Standing frequently
  • Bending frequently
  • Walking continuously



Work Schedule



  • 12-hour rotating shifts
  • Rotates between day and night shifts every two (2) weeks

  • Program Length: 90-day Summer Help Program
  • Tentative Start Date: May 18, 2026
  • Tentative End Date: August 14, 2026
