AEROSPACE TECHNICIAN - ELECTROMAGNETICS

LOCATION: Kennedy Space Center, FL

JOB STATUS: Full Time

Must be a US Citizen

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Aerospace Technician located at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL. This individual will support research and testing in the Electromagnetics Laboratory (EML) at the Kennedy Space Center.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • High school diploma or GED with related technical training or equivalent hands-on experience (minimum of 3 years relevant experience)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a NASA background investigation
  • Must be able to pass initial and random drug testing
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, including within the Electromagnetics Laboratory (EML) and at remote sites across KSC
  • Ability to travel within KSC facilities as required
  • Ability to travel on uneven terrain (paved surfaces, gravel, dirt, sand) to access test locations
  • Ability to climb ladders and elevated platforms as required
  • Commitment to performing all work safely in accordance with NASA and company safety standards

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Basic computer proficiency for viewing work instructions, drawings, specifications, and producing reports
  • Experience using fabrication and test equipment, including hand tools, measurement instruments, and torque tools
  • Familiarity with basic electrical test equipment (e.g., digital multimeters, power supplies)
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical work instructions
  • Experience with soldering (surface mount experience is a plus)
  • Amateur radio or general radio license is a plus
  • Willingness to learn from experienced technicians and engineers

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with setup, operation, and teardown of laboratory and test equipment
  • Support fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of laboratory systems and hardware
  • Assist engineers and senior technicians with testing, troubleshooting, and modifying equipment
  • Operate basic electrical test equipment (e.g., digital multimeters, power supplies, and similar instruments)
  • Read and follow work instructions, schematics, and engineering drawings to complete assigned tasks
  • Record test data and support documentation of laboratory and field test activities
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of laboratory spaces, tools, and equipment
  • Work independently or collaboratively in a team environment
  • Support field testing activities across KSC as needed
  • Apply basic engineering and technical principles under supervision
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of EML operations

Work Schedule Expectations

  • Full-time schedule, typically Monday-Friday
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on tasking
  • Shift work may be required
