The GI Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is accountable to facilitate quality ambulatory and hospital experience and outcome for patients. The APP will be responsible to the Chief and Medical Director of the division. The main practice focus is the outpatient clinic as well inpatient consultation to assist with inpatient and outpatient GI consultations. The APP shall act as an educator, consultant, and liaison to healthcare providers caring for gastroenterology patients. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities: Obtains and records medical histories, performs and records physical examinations, records pertinent progress notes in the medical records, develops treatment plans, develops follow-up plans, and coordinates follow-up visits with the attending gastroenterologists. Initiates patient care management plan with the supervising physician. Participates in the education of patients, families, and caregivers regarding the treatment plan, and expected outcomes and progress. May perform other duties as requested by the supervising physician. Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures, and objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner program with MS degree. Certified by the American Nurses Association (ANA) or by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) to practice in the expanded role. License must include prescriptive privileges. Completion of a course in American Heart Association Basic Life Supportdvanced Cardiac Life Support. EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of supervised three-month clinical internship or equivalent in clinically intensive atmosphere (hospital) preferably in Gastroenterology. Must have patient care services, procedures and privileges approved by the sponsoring physician. Healthcare environment such as acute care hospital, physicians' office, and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Any hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions.
