UVA Health is seeking a dynamic and strategic Associate Chief Nursing Officer to provide executive-level leadership for patient care services within the Medical Center. This role is responsible for advancing high-quality, patient-centered care across assigned clinical areas while driving continuous improvement in outcomes, safety, and patient experience.
As a designated leader supporting the Chief Nursing Officer, the Associate Chief Nursing Officer oversees resource and financial management and guides the development of policies, programs, and evidence-based practices that support clinical excellence and regulatory compliance. The Associate Chief serves as a visionary and change agent, fostering a collaborative, healthy work environment and strengthening shared governance across nursing. The Associate Chief Nursing Officer partners closely with physician leaders, directors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment with the strategic priorities of the Medical Center and School of Medicine. The ideal candidate brings a strategic mindset, strong operational leadership, and the ability to build effective partnerships across clinical and academic settings to support UVA Health's mission of excellence in patient care, education, and research.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Registered Nurse with Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing, or Bachelor's of Science in Nursing with Master's or Doctoral degree in Business or Health-related field. Experience: 5 years of experience in management with progressive leadership abilities. Administrative experience in an academic setting strongly preferred. Cardiovascular Clinical Experience Strongly preferred Licensure: Registered Nurse. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. The starting base rate for this role is $250,000.00 annually.
