Job Summary:

Oversees daily maintenance and repair shop operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient performance. Provides operational leadership by coordinating personnel, workflow, and resources while supporting the Shop Manager and guiding Shop Foremen to meet productivity, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

* Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
* Support, promote, and practice the Company's core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
* Oversee daytoday shop operations to ensure maintenance and repair activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOT and Company standards.
* Provide direct supervision and guidance to Shop Foremen and shop personnel to ensure consistent expectations, accountability, and performance.
* Coordinate labor planning, work assignments, and scheduling to optimize productivity, turnaround time, and equipment availability.
* Monitor workflow, quality of repairs, preventive maintenance compliance, and inspection completion, addressing performance or compliance gaps as needed.
* Serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues within the shop and communicate significant concerns to the Shop Manager.
* Support employee development by coaching, mentoring, and assisting with the training of mechanics and Shop Foremen.
* Ensure U.S. DOT inspections, maintenance activities, and required documentation are completed accurately and on schedule.
* Review and verify work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and timecards for accuracy and completeness.
* Oversee parts, tools, and materials usage, and coordinate inventory needs with the Shop Manager to support uninterrupted operations.
* Assist the Shop Manager with operational reporting, compliance tracking, audits, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
* Maintain effective working relationships with internal departments, vendors, and service providers.
* Safely operate company equipment, vehicles, and tools as necessary to support operational oversight.

Education:

* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* Technical training in Diesel Technology or equivalent handson experience required.
* ASE certifications preferred.
* Valid Driver's License required; Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements preferred.

Skills:

* 4+ years of experience in a heavy equipment maintenance and repair environment.
* Demonstrated experience leading or supervising technicians, Foremen, or shop personnel.
* Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations, inspections, and maintenance documentation requirements.
* Ability to independently manage priorities and make operational decisions in a fastpaced environment.
* Proven leadership, coaching, and communication skills with the ability to hold others accountable.
* Strong organizational, problemsolving, and planning abilities.
* Proficient in computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management software.

Physical Requirements:

* Wears and maintains required PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as required.
* Regularly stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to effectively oversee shop activities, inspect equipment, and access work areas.
* Regularly stand or work on feet for extended periods and walk across uneven terrain to monitor shop operations, inspect equipment, and move safely within job sites.
* Regularly work in a shop environment and in proximity to moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, loud noise, dust, fuel/oil, and other chemicals as required to oversee maintenance and repair operations.
* Regularly use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects, write, and operate a keyboard and/or mobile device to complete documentation, communicate, and perform operational tasks.
* Regularly communicates (talks and hears) and uses visual acuity to exchange information, coordinate work, and maintain safe and effective job site operations.
* Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance, to support the handling of parts, tools, and materials.
* Occasionally work while sitting for extended periods in an office environment to perform administrative, planning, reporting, and coordination tasks.
* Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, and weekends; overnight travel may be required.
