Molex is seeking an experienced mechanical Principal Launch Engineer to help solve our biggest challenges in product design, systems integration, customer architecture, and manufacturing with our industry-leading high-speed connector and cable systems for our big data and hyperscale customers. As Principal Launch Engineer with the CSBU IO Engineering team your primary focus will be to solve our toughest product-related challenges, on our top projects to help the team drive our products reliability faster to the market while we launch our next-generation high-speed connectors and cables. You will be joining a large organization of multi-cross functional team members to interact with. You will partner with them to solve some of toughest challenges. Your role will be the owner of detailed analysis, trouble shooting, product design knowledge, laboratory test knowledge, system design knowledge, intimate customer system application requirement knowledge, bridging this detailed knowledge with us to our manufacturing process and capabilities to help drive the team to reliably deliver our product on time.

The location for this role is flexible between Lisle IL, Conway Arkansas, or Freemont California - remote potential for right candidate.

What You Will Do

  • Be a team member in a global organization helping to successfully launch our leading-edge new products and components for the high-speed cable and connector industry. These may include high-speed connectors, connector cable assemblies, PCBA's and other interconnect products.
  • Interface with professional cross-functional team members in our signal integrity, manufacturing integration, program management, sales organization, test laboratory, high tech R&D model shop, and senior leadership teams.
  • Lead & Own critical problem-solving activities within Molex, acting as subject matter expert where appropriate, but ultimately the central hub linking the groups together to solve issues.
  • Present findings, learnings, and plans internally and to customers to obtain support for changes that may come from the root cause analysis and problem-solving outcomes.
  • Lead Manufacturing and Quality Assurance during product launches issues travel spend time during critical launches at our manufacturing sites with the global team
  • Create relationships with senior leadership, cross functional team members and peers through team building activities and growth opportunities operating as One Molex Team
  • Provide leadership, support, and guidance to junior team members on problem solving, and solutioning.
  • Retain responsibility for follow-up, documentation, publishing, and expediting all action items of all projects you are working on to solve issues driving Molex to a safe launch
  • Be aware of timeliness, need to solve problems and challenges quickly - take decisive decisions with sufficient data but do not pontificate while trying to boil the ocean
  • Be fully capable of presenting your findings as required to a customer audience in a clear and concise format for maximum understanding and impact

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Quality Engineering, or a related field
  • 12+ years of experience in electro-mechanical product design, manufacturing experience, quality experience and development with proven technical leadership
  • Experience with product development in the electronics industries
  • Strong understanding of engineering tools including FEA, GD&T and Tolerance Analysis
  • Experience with advanced parametric 3D CAD systems
  • Intermediate to advanced level of Signal Integrity understanding
  • Heavy experience with products manufactured using all the following processes: progressive die stamping, injection molding, die casting, plating, laser welding, soldering and insert molding
  • Experience with new technology development and new product launches
  • Six Sigma Background in problem solving - Proven track record of problem solving
  • Ability to internationally travel up to 50% of the time

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering or other related engineering field
  • Siemens NX experience
  • Design experience with high-speed, high-density connectors, cable assemblies, and interconnect products
  • Black Belt in Six Sigma, Shainin Red X
  • Understanding and application of sound project management techniques managing projects to timelines, due dates and deadlines

For this role, we anticipate paying $150,000-$300,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
