Job Summary

The Facilities Engineering Technician, working under direct supervision, is responsible to perform repairs and maintenance on a wide variety of building and facility equipment, fixtures and systems and conducts preventative maintenance inspections and performs required preventative maintenance duties. The role tests and inspects life-safety, emergency, and lighting systems according to state and local codes and assists in the installation and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment. The role performs HVAC operations, troubleshooting and repairs. The role also assists in performing analyses of operational processes, resource allocation, energy use, and safety processes, and recommends and implements improvements.

Job Responsibilities


  • Performs repairs and maintenance on a wide variety of building and facility equipment, fixtures and systems and conducts preventative maintenance inspections and performs required preventative maintenance duties.
  • Analyzes equipment and system failures and troubleshoots, makes adjustments to return to normal operational status.
  • Assists in performing analyses of operational processes, resource allocation, energy use, and safety processes, and recommends and implements improvements.
  • Tests and inspects life-safety, emergency, and lighting systems according to state and local codes and assists in the installation and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Operates, troubleshoots and repairs HVAC equipment.
  • Performs scheduled operational testing of generators and other emergency power systems. Performs operations, maintenance, repair, service, cleaning, and corrosion control work as assigned.
  • Maintains an inventory of facility-related supplies and places supply orders as directed. Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Generates reports on equipment performance, maintenance schedules, and facility conditions.
  • Cleans and services tools after completing tasks and stores shared tools and equipment in designated areas.
  • Responds to facility emergencies, such as power outages, water leaks, or HVAC system failures, and takes appropriate actions to mitigate risks and restore functionality.
  • Maintains a company-issued tool set, testing equipment, and personal protective equipment.
  • Reports any safety violations or unsafe conditions and participates in a cross-training repair and preventive maintenance program.
  • Collaborates with facilities management teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to address maintenance needs, implement improvement initiatives, and support overall facility operations.



Job Qualifications


  • 3-5 years of experience in Facilities Engineering, Repair and Maintenance, or a related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and/or commensurate experience.



Licenses and Certifications


  • EPA Universal Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Certification (Preferred)
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA-10) Certification (Required within 30 days of employment)
