POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The Vice President of Project Development is responsible for leading the development of complex infrastructure projects, engineering assessments, feasibility studies, capital asset management initiatives, and other technical, solutions-based programs for enterprise clients across all mission critical markets, including but not limited to healthcare, higher education, data centers, life sciences, government, and advanced manufacturing. The VP serves as the senior technical and commercial authority for integrated infrastructure solutions, ensuring all offerings are technically sound, financially viable, scalable, and aligned with company strategy. The role partners closely with Branch Managers, Sales leadership, Engineering, and Operations to convert client needs into executable, high-return programs that deliver measurable performance, resiliency, and long-term asset value. Base salary range of $200K - $240K KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Solution, Design & Proposal Development
- Develop design criteria concepts and technical solutions supported by detailed financial proformas, lifecycle cost analyses, and savings validation.
- Lead the creation of comprehensive, bundled proposals that may include mechanical systems, DDC controls, lighting, electrical, general trades, proactive maintenance and repair services, and creative financing solutions.
- Structure infrastructure improvement programs that leverage energy, operational, and maintenance savings to fund capital investments.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Account Management, Engineering, Estimating, Project Management, and Branch Operations) and external partners to ensure technical feasibility and commercial alignment.
- Ensure financial assumptions embedded in technical solutions are accurate, defensible, and achievable.
Sales Enablement & Client Engagement
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) throughout the sales process, assisting branch sales teams with opportunity development, proposal authorship, pricing strategy, and executive-level presentations.
- Work directly with C-suite executives, facilities leaders, and capital planners to assess existing infrastructure, operational challenges, and long-term objectives.
- Shape and position integrated, solutions-based offerings that differentiate the company through reliability, lifecycle value, sustainability, and financial performance.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor across the full customer engagement and project lifecycle.
Engineering Oversight & Project Development
- Oversee and support Principal Engineers and other technical leaders in the development of final designs, ensuring alignment with original concepts, client objectives, and contractual commitments.
- Maintain hands-on involvement throughout project development to ensure schedules, budgets, and performance objectives remain on track.
- Establish an operating rhythm to proactively identify and resolve technical, commercial, or execution risks.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Support Branch Managers in executing and localizing company strategy across mission critical markets.
- Participate in the creation of branch-level strategic plans and assume primary responsibility for execution related to project development and solution delivery.
- Align project development efforts with operational, financial, regulatory, and risk considerations specific to each mission critical market.
- Translate complex engineering and infrastructure concepts into clear, business-aligned strategies supported by measurable outcomes.
Monitoring & Verification/Resource & Operational Management
- Coach, influence, and educate building owners and executive stakeholders to adopt new behaviors and decision frameworks that recognize the operational, financial, and strategic value of efficient, integrated infrastructure solutions.
- Perform monitoring and verification services as required by customer to validate savings and if desired by client, perform on-going Resource and Management coaching to assure energy friendly behavior is maintained.
- Manage and coordinate a diverse set of internal and external resources to support project development and delivery across short- and long-term horizons.
- Engage cross-functional teams and company processes to ensure optimal resource allocation throughout all stages of project development.
Market & Industry Knowledge
- Stay current on trends, regulations, technologies, and financing models impacting mission critical infrastructure.
- Apply market insights to continuously strengthen the technical rigor, strategic relevance, and competitive differentiation of proposed solutions.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of technical solutions engineers that support branch-level solution selling efforts across all mission critical markets.
- Lead a team focused on large, turnkey infrastructure solutions, including energy efficiency, decarbonization, resiliency, modernization, and lifecycle optimization programs.
- Actively source, recruit, and build a long-term talent pipeline regardless of current openings; serve as an ambassador of the company brand and culture.
- Create an environment, in partnership with Branch Managers, where top technical and sales-aligned talent is eager to join and grow with the organization.
- Manage team workflow and capacity to effectively support local branch and enterprise capital project opportunities.
- Invest in team development, emphasizing both current role effectiveness and long-term career progression.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position operates primarily in a professional office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.
- Work duties may regularly necessitate walk-throughs of local job sites, during which the incumbent may utilize basic tools (measuring tape, screwdriver, wrench, etc.), and be intermittently exposed to the conditions typically associated with a construction site.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- In performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, walk, hear, and possess an appropriate degree of both visual acuity and manual dexterity.
- S/he may occasionally be required to climb, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, and/or perform repetitive motion.
- This is considered a light work position, which means possible exertion of up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten (10) pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
TRAVEL:
- This position may require up to 50% travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of experience in engineering or project development of large-scale infrastructure, energy, or turnkey facility projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering required; PE license or advanced technical certification strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to design and develop complex technical solutions for large campuses with a clear ROI and sustainability narrative.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, controls, energy systems) and infrastructure modernization practices.
- Deep understanding of healthcare operational standards, compliance frameworks (e.g., Joint Commission, ASHE), and patient-centric facility constraints.
- Highly proficient in energy modeling, financial modeling, and life-cycle cost analysis.
- Strong project development and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
- Must be able to recruit, onboard and develop new team members.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have a driving record compliant with the Company's policies and MVR requirements, and consent to ongoing driving record monitoring by the Company.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with Energy Star for Healthcare, LEED for Healthcare, or similar sustainability frameworks.
- Knowledge of state and federal energy incentive programs and funding mechanisms.
- Experience with ESCOs, P3s, performance contracting, or innovative energy service models.
