JACKSON ELECTRIC MEMBERSHIP CORPORATION POSITION DESCRIPTION COURIER POSITION OBJECTIVES: Provide for the prompt, efficient, and reliable delivery of the Cooperative's supplies and inter-company correspondence and handling of the Cooperative's mail, as well as the purchasing and storage of various office supplies in order to provide assistance with meeting the objectives of the department and Cooperative. To consistently work and communicate in a team-oriented environment in accordance with the Cooperative's mission, vision, and values. MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS: All requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. EDUCATION: Require high school diploma or equivalent EXPERIENCE: Prefer a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the area of purchasing and receiving of office supplies. Prefer experience in routine operation and problem solving on copiers and postage metering machines, as well as experience with a courier or delivery service. KNOWLEDGE: Require a working knowledge of the principles and duties that include copier operation and maintenance; collection of mail and metering of postage; ordering, receiving, and storage of office supplies. Require knowledge of all traffic laws. Require specialized proficiency in the functions of this position within the evaluation period (first six months on the job). Must be willing to pursue a continuous program of self-development both inside and outside of work hours in furthering his/her knowledge to develop in the job and accept increasing responsibilities. SKILLS: Require effective leadership skills, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work in a team environment. Require the ability to learn the operation of machines, with the ability to understand their functional nature. Require the ability to understand work flow, procedures, schedules, and priorities of work, as well as the ability to analyze and recommend improvements for work accomplishment. Require ability to effectively communicate with all departments and post office personnel, as well as repairmen and representatives of vendors to stimulate good will and effective public relations. Require ability to operate a vehicle safely and abide by all safety rules and regulations. Require ability to receive, understand, and carry out both oral and written instructions. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS AND CONDITIONS: Reports to: Director, Finance & Accounting Directs: None Internal: Actively participates within the Cooperative team environment to develop supportive relationships essential to the success of the functions of this position, achieving the results expected and encouraging throughout the organization the concepts of teamwork and cooperative spirit. External: Develops and maintains supportive relationships with member/consumers, the general public, and other external contacts to assure positive results. This position requires heavy work; requires repetitive motions, hearing, talking, feeling, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, reaching, crawling, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing; requires visual acuity in mobile equipment operations; and is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions in extreme heat or cold with noise, vibrations, and/or hazards. This document does not create an employment contract, implied or otherwise, other than an "at will" employment document. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide for the disposition of the Cooperative's supplies and inter-company correspondence. 2. Possess current Georgia driver's license as well as excellent driving safety record. 3. Perform routine maintenance checks on assigned vehicle. 4. Assist other departments and districts with delivery of supplies or materials when required. 5. Provide for the collection and disposition of Cooperative mail from external and internal sources. Sort incoming mail. 6. Operate assigned office equipment as required or directed. 7. Keep equipment and work area clean and organized at all times. 8. Report equipment malfunctions to responsible service company and/or supervisor. 9. Maintain office supplies inventory in order to provide proper supplies in a timely fashion and issue them as needed. 10. Sort all incoming office supplies and add to stock as they arrive from vendor. 11. Be available in mailroom to assist other employees when not performing other specifically assigned duties. 12. Keep up-to-date record of current postal rates and charges, audit month-end accounts at local post office, forward report to the accounting section, and requisition for next month's usage. 13. Be familiar with and at all times follow the best safety practices set forth in the Cooperative's Safety Manual. 14. Participate in job training and safety meetings as applicable. 15. Attend and participate in the annual meeting as required or directed. 16. Perform such other duties as may be required or directed. GRADE: CTC-3
