Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse at SCI Waymart, you will deliver comprehensive health care across skilled care, outpatient, and general population settings. Your role involves executing fundamental nursing procedures and maintaining meticulous documentation to ensure optimum inmate health and quality of life. You will be responsible for the collection of medical specimens, including urine, feces, and sputum, as directed by clinical staff. Additionally, you will support inmates with activities of daily living and personal hygiene, ensuring that all basic physical needs are met with dignity and professionalism. Beyond routine clinical tasks, you will actively participate in life skills programming by following individualized nursing care plans and providing interventions tailored to specific inmate needs. Your contributions include documenting progress on assigned aspects of the care plan and maintaining an organized clinical environment. Furthermore, you will be a vital member of the emergency response team, prepared to perform life-saving procedures such as CPR and obstructed airway maneuvers. You will also participate in regular emergency response drills to remain proficient in critical safety protocols and universal health care precautions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• The Department of Corrections is staffed by 3 work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
  • 8-hour shifts with rotating days off
• Work hours TO BE DETERMINED
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents

• This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
