Function:

Operations Job Summary:The Production Manager at the Waggaman site is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of site-wide ammonia production consisting of a single world scale KBR ammonia plant. This individual is a key member of the site leadership team providing oversight of daily ammonia production activities including safety, quality, cost management, employee development, and process optimization, while ensuring production and site-wide goals are met in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Job Description: The Production Manager at the Waggaman site is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of site-wide ammonia production consisting of a single world scale KBR ammonia plant. This individual is a key member of the site leadership team providing oversight of daily ammonia production activities including safety, quality, cost management, employee development, and process optimization, while ensuring production and site-wide goals are met in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
  • Effectively staff, manage, and develop exempt and hourly employees within the ammonia production department consisting of 1 production superintendent, 5 shift-supervisors, and 44+ operators, and a training supervisor.
  • Set departmental expectations for excellence in safety and environmental performance and maintain overall responsibility for the effectiveness of these efforts.
  • Collaborate with key business stakeholders such as maintenance, engineering, environmental, safety, and product handling departments to identify opportunities to optimize and improve operational performance.
  • Develop the annual ammonia production budget, compare performance to existing metrics, and ensure effective management of controllable costs and production.
  • Establish the ammonia plant turnaround schedule to ensure it aligns with the capital budget forecast and supports the corporate business plan and sales objectives.
  • Must participates as an effective member of the crisis incident management team capable of executing the role of company spokesman and incident commander.
  • Manages complex-wide natural gas, while coordinating daily/monthly gas usage and supply with the various gas suppliers and the corporate raw materials group.
  • Effectively manages and coordinates onsite ammonia inventory in conjunction with the product handling group.
  • Must be able to effectively covers and acts on behalf of the general manager during his absence.
Internal Controls: Establishes and implements processes and procedures to meet departmental internal controls requirements. Ensures that established processes/procedures are followed as designed. Works with internal controls department to identify deficiencies in existing processes/procedures, the need for new ones, and the extent to which such processes/procedures are being followed. Develops and implements corrective actions with regard to department internal controls as necessary. Successful incumbents will have:
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering from an abet accredited university is required; BSChE preferred.
  • 8+ years of engineering or production related experience in chemical manufacturing is required; background in ammonia, urea, and UAN processes preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive supervisory/management experience is required.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills required.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds.
  • Strong management skills required, including team building, decision making, and prioritizing.
  • Working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations applicable to ammonia manufacturing required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Has the ability to obtain acquire a transportation worker identification credential (TWIC) card.
  • The ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause.
