Job Overview

The Senior Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for direct patient care and safety including diagnostic of complex, difficult or complicated assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for children, adolescents, and their families. The Senior Behavioral Health Clinician also provides clinical supervision and resource expertise to other unlicensed Behavioral Health Clinician in Outpatient, Inpatient or Emergency Department settings.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care and management of children and adolescents by developing and implementing treatment and intervention plans and conducting needs assessment to gather patient information. Assists peers with complex or difficult assessments.
  • Provides crisis intervention to families and provides interventions with families to support discharge to home and stabilization. Develops therapeutic relationships with patients and families to assist with psychological problems.
  • Completes diagnostic behavioral health assessments for treatment or crisis intervention. Compiles and provided advanced analysis of data; prepares case records, reports, and documents that comply with state and federal standards in providing case notes, treatment plans, and evaluations.
  • Provides clinical supervision and resource expertise to unlicensed Behavioral Health Clinicians, which includes mentoring and assistance on cases, completing peer evaluations, and providing emotional support.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines or departments on patient care and unit safety and serves as a liaison with multi-disciplinary care teams and external community agencies to identify, implement, and monitor treatment goals. Presents advanced case presentations and provides consultation to medical teams and callers.
  • Coordinates admissions to programs within the Pediatric Mental Health Institute or community programs and coordinates treatment with internal and external services.
  • Leads, monitors, evaluates, and collaborates educational and therapeutic groups for patients; participates in clinical rounds and maintains communication with unit or department leadership.
  • Attends educational in-services for Behavioral Health Clinicians
  • Participates in unit committees and educational offerings; complies with all policies and procedures related to the Pediatric Mental Health Institute and the hospital; and provides customer service as related to the Mental Health field.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • Master of Science
  • Area of Study
    • Master's degree in psychology, social work or related field
  • Experience
    • Minimum Experience Required:Four (4) years licensed clinical experience with children and adolescents in a psychiatric setting
  • Equivalency

    • Basic Life Support
    • Licensed Clinic Social Worker
    • Licensed Prof Counselor
  • Additional Requirements
    • Variety of licenses acceptable BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire
      State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
      Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $84,558.69 to $126,838.030
