An Associate Medical Director (MD) performs the following roles:
The Associate Medical Director will have administrative and clinical oversight of the program (alongside and assisting the Medical Director) to provide the highest quality of care utilizing state-of-the-art, evidence-based therapeutic models, and will facilitate the integration of clinical services with the research, educational, fiscal, and operational aspects of the program in keeping with the strategic goals, values, and policies of the Hospital. Other duties include: *Provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment; formulates individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses. *Conducts routine forensic evaluations (e.g., commitment, guardianship). *Directs the ongoing care of patients. *Provides clinical services including pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy *Communicates with other providers of mental health and medical services as appropriate. *Maintains contact with family members as appropriate. *Documents in the record by the completion of treatment plans, patient encounter forms, appropriate progress notes, clinical summaries and other documentation in accordance with hospital policies. *Provides interface with payers and managed care organizations through the completion of timely and effective reviews and necessary authorizations. *Participates in program and hospital administrative activities (e.g., staff meetings, CQI, hospital committees, etc.) *Maintains awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues. *Participates in the hospital teaching and research efforts.
