Bruker Spatial Genomics (BSG, a Bruker subsidiary) is focused on opening a new frontier in spatial 3D genomics and multiomic analyses. We are committed to the development of a novel technology platform allowing progress in genome-wide visualization of spatially resolved 3D chromosome and chromatin architecture in individual cells and cell populations in situ. BSG is looking for a new Senior Research Associate to join our team in San Jose, CA.

    The position will lead reagents formulation for RND use as well as for kits and customer facing materials.
  • The position will assist with establishing performance metrics of raw materials.
  • The position will help generate controlled documents including specifications, batch records, SOPs and BOMs.
  • Must be able to pipet with accuracy and precision.
  • Must be able to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
  • The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and be able to critically analyze data and communicate results to the team.
  • This is a cross-functional team. The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple concurrent projects and must bring a can-do attitude and sense of purpose and urgency to the job.


Responsibilities

  • This role will report to and work under the general supervision of a senior level scientist.
  • Will assist in the transfer of methods, procedures, work instructions, specifications and BOMs.
  • Provide R&D with materials that have passed developed QC tests for R&D development.
  • Maintain revision control of critical documents such as QC methods, test reports, BOMS, SOPs and Batch Records and provide these materials to manufacturing team when appropriate.
  • Provide hands-on lab support to the team to reach department goals.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to be shared with the team.
  • Develop procedures and maintain accurate records.


Qualifications

Educational/Experience requirements:

  • S. and or M.S. in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field and 5+ years of hands-on molecular biology experience in an industrial setting.
  • Basic knowledge around key areas including nucleic acid purification and characterization, NGS, oligo-dye conjugation.
  • Basic knowledge in standard molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid amplification and purification (RNA/DNA), qPCR, gel electrophoresis, FiSH and DNA sequencing or similar molecular biology techniques.
  • Highly motivated with excellent attention to detail. Good communication (oral and written) and collaboration skills.
  • Basic experience with troubleshooting and optimization of molecular biology assays including reagent formulation.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • A willingness to learn new techniques and methods.

Additional desirable skills to have:

  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) and various laboratory instruments such as Thermal Cyclers, gel-based equipment, Nanodrop, Plate readers, and Qubit.

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $95,400 and $168,000 provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
