Primary Function

The Project Engineer Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all engineering project assignments and professional engineers and technicians. The incumbent will serve as a key member for the Engineering Management team, will be involved in long-range planning, and will be accountable for all project cost, schedule, and performance objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians in project development to ensure the successful development and implementation of new projects according to customer requirements and specifications, engineering principles, and company standards.
  • Review project proposals, including drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine the feasibility, risk, and estimated costs and resources, approving those that meet standards.
  • Develop and implement standards of procedures, drawings, designs, and controls to maintain and ensure reliability of the projects assigned.
  • Provide knowledge and insight in developing business and facility strategies to maintain product line viability and growth to assist in long-range planning.
  • Interact with both internal and external customers to develop, negotiate, and gain approval of proposals, agreements, and contracts.
  • Directly and indirectly manage a team of support staff (including technicians and other engineers) for project completion, including workflow, assignments, and training.
  • Manage and coordinate activities to resolve technical developments, scheduling issues, and design test problems as they arise.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and approve design changes and specifications to all projects as needed.
  • Monitor and provide guidance for Engineers and Technicians as needed to the most complex full project development.
  • Review and approve project expense estimates and control expenditures within budget limitations.
  • Conduct performance reviews, training, and staffing needs of the engineering group.
  • Perform other activities as needed or as directed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory/ leadership experience
  • Experience with project engineering
  • Managerial experience within engineering
  • Excellent mathematical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical reports
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and influence a work team
  • Proven history of timely and successful product development in a fast paced development environment
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both orally and written, to communicate with all levels of employees and management
