2026 SPRING - Nurse Extern Program - Henry Ford Jackson Hospital - Contingent - Varied

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing
• The completion of two clinical rotations, one of which must be Med/Surg (in an acute care setting)
• Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment with appropriate technique/device
• Successful completion of 180-day introductory period required to achieve knowledge of policies relative to job duties and patient care unit.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

• BLS Healthcare provider to be completed during orientation

TO REMAIN ACTIVE IN THE NURSE EXTERN ROLE, YOU MUST:

• Actively be enrolled in a nursing program
• Successfully complete each course
• Provide transcripts to Nurse Manager after each course
• Provide a copy of your plan of work to your Nurse Manager
• If at any point the extern does not meet their academic institution's standard for continued enrollment in the school of nursing classes, their employment as an extern will be rescinded
