Position Title: Senior Director, Managing Director - Provider Credentialing & Peer Review

Department: Justice League Department (JLD)

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Managing Director for Provider Credentialing and Peer Review is a leadership role within the Justice League Department (JLD). This position is responsible for leading the lane that oversees all provider credentialing and peer review functions for DaVita.

This individual will manage a team of credentialing and peer review specialists, set strategic goals for the lane, and ensure the efficient and compliant operation of all credentialing and peer review processes. They will serve as a subject matter expert, partnering with Village leadership and cross-functional teams to mitigate risk, drive process improvements, and uphold the quality and safety standards of patient care across the Village.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manages and leads the JLD Credentialing & Peer Review lane.

  • Sets and achieves strategic goals for the lane, ensuring alignment with broader JLD and enterprise objectives.

  • Manages lane budget, with accountability for financial performance.

  • Acts as the primary point person for the lane, collaborating with other lane leads and subject matter experts (SMEs) throughout the JLD.

  • Regularly interacts with and provides expert counsel to Village Senior Leadership (GVPs and above) on matters related to credentialing and peer review.

  • Drives a positive and connected culture within the lane and contributes significantly to the broader JLD culture.

  • Proactively identifies opportunities for risk mitigation and develops initiatives to create efficiencies and solves for future challenges.

Essential Duties: Credentialing & Peer Review

Credentialing Operations:

  • Oversee the processing of all credentialing and privileging requests for practitioners (Nephrologists, NPs, PAs, etc.) wishing to provide services in DaVita facilities.

  • Ensure the team conducts timely primary verification of credentials, including licensure, education, training, and competency.

  • Manage the administration of the credentialing software (e.g., eCred), ensuring it serves as the accurate source of truth for all provider data across the Village.

  • Lead initiatives to improve and automate the credentialing process to accelerate provider onboarding and reduce turnaround times.

  • Provide guidance and support to the Credentialing Advisory Committee (CAC), including preparing files for review and providing recommendations on medical staff membership.

  • Ensure proper setup of providers for new (denovo) and acquired facilities.

Peer Review Process:

  • Manage the medical staff peer review process in accordance with DaVita's Medical Staff Bylaws.

  • Provide guidance and support for both informal and formal peer review processes, including investigations, recommendations, and monitoring of action plans.

  • Oversee the support for the Texas Nursing Peer Review Committee and professional practice reviews for other licensed teammates.

  • Serve as the liaison between physician partners, facilities, and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) on peer review matters.

  • Lead the team that owns complex peer review processes, from case intake to the execution of hearings.

Leadership & Strategic Initiatives:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and trusted advisor on provider credentialing, peer review, and medical staff bylaws for the organization.

  • Develop and deliver educational materials for the Village on credentialing and peer review topics.

  • Provide expert guidance to Governing Body members on bylaws requirements, particularly concerning credentialing denials or revocations.

  • Partner with IT, Operations, and other departments on projects and data integrations related to provider data and credentialing systems.

Qualifications

  • Senior Director within the JLD for more than one year.

  • Demonstrated competency and is perceived by peers and partners as a subject matter expert in provider credentialing and peer review.

  • Proven experience managing and leading a team.

  • Experience setting and managing budgets.

  • History of significant contributions to developing and advancing JLD-wide strategic initiatives.

  • Strong track record of working effectively with senior executives and serving as the lead on complex matters.
