Position Summary

ASTM International has expanded its leadership across Critical and Emerging Technologies (CET), with continued emphasis on Additive Manufacturing (AM) as a foundational domain. The organization is focused on delivering high-value advisory services, strategic insights, and technical leadership to guide the standardization and development of CET fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, drones, and advanced materials.

This role builds on the legacy of Wohlers Associates (WA), acquired by ASTM in 2021, which has served as a leader in AM advisory for over 30 years. The Wohlers Report remains a flagship industry resource, and this position will continue advancing its impact while supporting the organization's broader CET outlook.

We are seeking an experienced leader to drive ASTM's advisory programs, supporting AM industry growth with a forward-looking perspective on CET integration.

Key Responsibilities

Advisory Services

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of high-impact advisory projects in additive manufacturing, with the ability to support adjacent CET areas.
  • Provide subject matter support across CET topics such as AI, cybersecurity, robotics, and advanced materials, in coordination with relevant internal leads.
  • Support the development of strategic proposals and externally funded project applications.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical deliverables, articles, and thought leadership pieces.
  • Represent ASTM at industry events, technical panels, and stakeholder briefings.

Business Development & Growth

  • Represent WA at industry events, conferences, and panel discussions.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to align business strategies.
  • Assist in developing sales strategies and securing new business.
  • Support competitive analysis and market expansion initiatives.
  • Explore opportunities in robotics, automation, industrial software, AI, quantum computing, and cybersecurity.

Product Development & Strategic Support

  • Support the continued evolution of the Wohlers Report and the design of next-generation insights platforms.
  • Assist in the development of digital tools, interactive content, and visualization platforms for strategic insight generation.
  • Contribute to the expansion and digitization of WA's proprietary databases.
  • Support integration of emerging technologies and data tools, including AI-driven analytics.

Market Intelligence Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Market Intelligence to provide strategic and analytical support for CET-related MI deliverables.
  • Assist in the development and execution of industry research, without leading independent intelligence functions.
  • Offer content input, technical validation, and context to align MI outputs with advisory needs.

Technology & Ecosystem Analysis

  • Monitor and synthesize emerging trends in AM and CET fields, producing internal summaries and actionable insights.
  • Provide input on standards-related challenges, technology gaps, and market evolution.

Team Development & Collaboration

  • Support internal knowledge development, mentoring, and coordination across the advisory and technical teams.
  • Contribute to a high-performance, mission-aligned team culture.
