Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Specialist

About the Role
Internationally recognized for quality manufacturing and reliable performance for over 50 years, Prolec is an electric industry leader in the Americas with nine manufacturing facilities strategically located in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. Our Waukesha, WI facility is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our accounting team. This role is responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including general ledger support and month-end close procedures. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong grasp of accounting fundamentals.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Review and process AP invoices for completeness, accuracy, correct account coding, and appropriate approval
- Process weekly and ad-hoc vendor checks and ACH payments
- Review and process employee expense reports via Concur
Accounts Receivable
- Process customer invoices and credit memos
- Upload customer invoices to portals for payment
- Process customer credit card payments
- Provide backup support for cash receipts application
General Accounting
- Perform monthly closing tasks, including reconciling general ledger accounts
- Maintain and update various accounting spreadsheets
- Run and review daily accounting reports as needed
- Assist with audit-related data requests
Administrative
- Organize and maintain filing systems
- Support other accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Solid understanding of accounting principles; strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Highly organized with strong analytical skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong problem-solving skills and active listening abilities
- Ability to prioritize and meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
- Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and general office technology
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- 1-2 years of experience in general accounting or bookkeeping
