Job Summary: As a team member in our Alternative Investments practice, you will assist in providing tax compliance & consulting services to our Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients. Job Duties:
- Tax Compliance
- Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual ("TQM").
- Applies understanding of client's unique set of circumstances, documentation, and/or other requirements mandated by law and prepares required filings (tax returns) using a system of review and documentation to ensure that the client is in full compliance, while keeping the client's tax and reporting burden's as low as possible;
- Ensures all data needed to comply with filing requirements are collected; identifies and properly communicates missing items to prepare return;
- Utilizes Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in tax prep process
- Effectively teams with Senior on completion of project (follow-up with Open items list);
- Delivering high quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services
- Coordinating the tax compliance process with the client
- Managing your daily and weekly schedule to juggle competing priorities and meet internal and client deadlines
- Thoroughly documenting your work and conclusions in the client tax file
- Tax Consulting
- Assist with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other relevant field required
- Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred
Experience:
- More than one (1) year of prior tax experience required
- Financial Services industry experience supporting Alternative Investment funds including: Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds preferred
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships preferred
License/Certifications:
- Working towards CPA, CFP, Masters in Tax, or JD
Software:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat preferred
- Experience with tax research databases preferred
- Proficient in tax compliance process software preferred
Language:

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. California Range: $80,000 - $83,500 Colorado Range: $70,000 - $80,000 Illinois Range: $74,000 - $80,000 Maryland Range: $85,500 - $88,000 Massachusetts Range: $86,500 - $89,000 Minnesota Range: $72,000 - $78,000 New Jersey Range: $77,000 - $92,000 NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $93,000 - $95,000 Washington Range: $69,500 - $80,000 Washington DC Range: $86,000 - $90,000
