2519 - Traffic Control Laborer

FNF Construction, Inc. is a general contractor providing heavy civil construction services throughout the Southwestern United States. We are currently seeking a Traffic Control Laborer.

The position will perform a variety of manual tasks involving physical labor and operation of a company vehicle on
highway construction projects to assist in safe and efficient paving operations. Under the supervision of the Traffic
Control Supervisor, the position will operate a company vehicle pulling a trailer full of traffic cones, barricades and
markers. The position will assist in clearing and preparing highway work zones and rights of way by setting out and
picking up traffic control devices while driving a company vehicle throughout the project site on a daily basis. The
position will control traffic passing near, in and around work zones by use of paddles.

Primary functions will include assisting Traffic Control Technician in Maintenance of Traffic duties per
Departments of Transportation Specifications to ensure safe working conditions for crew members and safe
environment for traveling public.
• Safely operate a company vehicle pulling a trailer loaded with traffic control devices for placement in and around
  the highway construction project.
• Under supervision, assist in clearing and preparing highway work zones and rights-of-way.
  Set out and pick up traffic barricades, cones, and markers.
• Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones by use of flag or paddle.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety programs and procedures using the appropriate tools
  and equipment for the task.
• Properly follow all company programs and state and federal regulations for safe working procedures and
  environment.
• Work around heavy/highway construction equipment (i.e. loaders, backhoes, belly dumps, cranes, pavers etc.)
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The position will perform physically demanding work and must be constantly aware of both the construction and traffic
activity taking place around them. Work assignments include working around live traffic and heavy equipment,
exposure to outdoor weather conditions and loud noise. The work assignment requires constant attention to safety on
the job while creating a safe zone by diverting traffic away from the workers. The position will drive in and out of active
traffic and construction work zones stopping frequently to set up or retrieve traffic control devices. The position will
stand for long periods of time holding paddles to direct the flow of traffic through the project site. The position requires
that the employee wear all personal protective equipment and clothing that allows them to safely perform the duties of
the job.
