SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS JOB TITLE: Utility Billing Analyst REQUISITION: CUS00IO DEPARTMENT: Billing Services - Wichita Service Center or Raytown Customer Care Center LOCATION: Wichita, KS Raytown, MO PAY RANGE: Billing Analyst II: $66,600 - $83,200 Sr Billing Analyst: $75,300 - $100,400 Lead Billing Analyst: $88,800 - $118,400 Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Flex Time available Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: We're seeking an analytical, detail driven Utility Billing Analyst who enjoys solving complex problems, improving processes, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate billing and exceptional customer experiences. As an integral member of our billing team, you will support specialized billing across multiple jurisdictions, drive improvements that enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements. Major Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited to: * Specialized Billing Operations o Perform manual billing functions and support billing for complex and high visibility accounts with specialized rates. o Conduct monthly billing testing and validation for all four jurisdictions. o Respond to audit and regulatory data requests with accuracy and timeliness. o Maintain strong awareness of applicable regulatory rates, tariffs, and jurisdictional requirements. * Systems, Analysis & Compliance o Troubleshoot billing system issues and collaborate with IT to resolve discrepancies. o Analyze new rates, special contracts, and billing impacts to ensure alignment with regulatory standards. o Identify anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. o Apply knowledge of SOX controls and internal audit expectations to ensure all billing processes are compliant and properly documented. * Process Improvement & Collaboration o Identify inefficiencies and help streamline billing workflows. o Support initiatives that enhance data quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. o Collaborate with internal partners including Regulatory, Meter Services, Customer Operations, Corporate Tax, and IT.
Education and Experience Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, data analytics, or related field. * Requires at least 2 years of experience with complex billing systems or utility operations. * Demonstrated analytical experience-particularly in investigating anomalies and resolving issues through cross functional collaboration. * Familiarity with regulatory rate structures and/or SOX control environments is highly preferred. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: None Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions. Occasional travel is possible.
