The location for this position is in Brecon Ops Center 7600 E Kemper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249

DUTIES

Under close supervision as a learner in training for advancement to the next higher grade in his/her promotional sequence, works with employees of higher classification in electrical and other work in and about substations and shops; performing such duties as

• Assisting employees of higher classification in their work, including supplying them with tools, instruments, materials and equipment.

• Caring for tools, instruments, materials, and equipment used in the work.

• Operating power driven hand tools, such as air hammers, electric drills; sharpening drills, using emery wheel and using taps.

• Operating torches, handling solder, removing insulation from wires, etc.

• Tinning and soldering joints and lugs.

• Bending, cutting and threading conduit and pipe by hand.

• Driving a truck or other Company vehicles on a limited basis, such as, to and from job site, when required; and other driving incidental with performance of duties.

• Acquiring a working knowledge of safety rules, first-aid and safety and fire-fighting equipment used on the system.

• Performing other similar or less skilled work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet the Company's requirements as to GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have acquired a knowledge of the use and care of the more common tools used in the work.

• Must be capable of passing the Company's drivers examination and possess the necessary driver's license, including the appropriate Commercial Drivers License.

• Must possess and demonstrate through testing an aptitude for mechanical and electrical work.

• Must possess and demonstrate ability to climb structures and extension ladders, and work at elevated levels.

Specific Requirements

• Ability to successfully complete the Construction and Skilled Trade (CAST-R) Testing
• Ability to obtain a valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL)
• Due to OSHA imposed regulations, the body weight limit is imposed at 285 lbs. or less.
• Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.
